A corner devastated by the flood of 1951, which deeply affected the southern part of the city, extending eastwards as far as the bastion and a little beyond.
A late but indispensable and intelligent intervention has transformed the ruins of the area into elements that are not only admirable but also worth seeing, thanks to the implementation of technical measures that evoke memories of what is no longer there. In particular, a corner of a house has been “suitably” preserved, which, given its thickness and its proximity to the entrance gate and the bastion, is thought to be an obvious trace of the medieval walls.
Nearby, there are also the ruins of some houses destroyed by the flood of 1855, which serve as historical testimony. These ruins were left outside the enclosure walls that were later built because they were located on a too steep terrain.
